Today we officially launch MiMaji Foundation, the social impact arm of MiMaji, Kenya’s water delivery technology platform.
Why We Started
While building MiMaji as a water delivery platform in Nairobi, we discovered something troubling: the communities that needed clean water most were the ones paying the highest prices for the worst quality. Residents in informal settlements like Kibera pay up to 10 times more per litre than those in affluent neighbourhoods like Karen.
This isn’t just a market failure. It’s a human rights issue.
What We’re Building
MiMaji Foundation focuses on three pillars:
- Water Quality Testing: free testing in communities so residents know if their water is safe
- Community Education: safe water practices through schools and community health workers
- Data and Advocacy: building MajiMap, a public platform that makes water inequality visible and actionable
